Raleigh hires new public utilities director

Raleigh City Manager Russell Allen on Tuesday named a Utah water utilities veteran to become the city’s new public utilities director, succeeding Dale Crisp, who is retiring.

John Robert Carman will start his new post leading the city’s Public Utilities Department on Jan. 4. Carman currently serves as an executive with Englewood, Colo.-based engineering firm CH2M Hill.

His experience includes 30 years in water and sewer operations in the public sector, including serving as the general manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake and Sandy from 2002 to 2005.

Carman, a Utah native, has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Utah at Salt Lake City.
