Mark Hurd seen in talks with Oracle

Written on September 9, 2010

Former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Mark Hurd is reportedly in talks to join Oracle Corp.

The Wall Street Journal cited unnamed sources "familiar with the matter" who said Hurd could join the Redwood City software company as a top executive but said the exact nature of what he would do couldn't be determined.

Oracle's founder Larry Ellison won't be vacating the CEO job, however, the paper reported.

Ellison publicly criticized the HP board for the way it handled the sexual harassment investigation and subsequent resignation of Hurd on August 6.

The HP probe didn't find evidence of sexual harassment but did find that the former CEO hadn't properly disclosed expenses and a personal relationship with former actress Jodie Fisher who worked on a contract basis as a greeter at some company events.
